Mesopotamia Freedom Party (MÖP) celebrated May 1, International Workers’ Day with a statement reminding the importance of May 1 and paying tribute to those who were murdered on May 1, 1977 in Taksim Square.

The statement said: "The Turkish state and other governments that defend the capitalist order always gets in a panic on May 1. Today, in Mesopotamia and Anatolia, where developments continue with all the warmth of the struggle for democracy, May 1 is more than ever needed. Workers’ Day needs to be celebrated by the masses. On May 1, all peoples should raise the struggle for freedom, democracy and equality!"
