Long march heading for Hamburg

The long march of the Kurdish youth movement for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is heading for the final destination Hamburg.

The long march of the Kurdish youth movement for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, which started on Saturday in Hanover, started the last stage in Harburg today and is heading for the final destination Hamburg. The route today is 20 kilometers long.

Yesterday's program was temporarily overshadowed by a violent police crackdown in Bardowick, Lower Saxony. The organizers told ANF that the young people were stopped in the train on their way from their accommodation in Lüneburg, where they had spent the night before, to the starting point of the stage in Winsen-Luhe at Bardowick station.

"The attack did not take place as the police claimed, because we had train tickets and did not attack inspectors. The police staged crackdown with the intention of sabotaging our march," said the organizing committee before the start of the last stage on Friday.

The German media coverage of the incident was also sharply criticized. The organizing committee said it was worrying that the police were still considered a privileged source, although it was known that the authorities pursue their own agenda at such events. The demonstrators demanded that reports and information from the police authorities be critically scrutinized in all cases.

"We hold on to our resistance for a free leader and a free Kurdistan. The repression of German authorities will not be able to stop the legitimate struggle of the Kurdish youth movement,” stressed the organizing committee.
