The 26-day Long March, which began on 21 January in Lorient, France, ended its 14th day with diplomatic meetings and visits to shopkeepers in the Villiers Le Bel suburb of Paris.
As part of the march, a delegation including Zübeyde Zümrüt, co-chair of the European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E), met with Pierre Indjeyan, a member of the Sarcelles Armenian Cultural Association.
Highlighting the necessity of a unified struggle, Zübeyde Zümrüt stated: "We are going through an intense and historic process. The struggle for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is not just for the Kurdish people; it is for all the peoples of Kurdistan and the Middle East.
His isolation and imprisonment has gone beyond being merely a Kurdish question; it has become a regional and global issue. Throughout 50 years of struggle, we have learned that unless the Kurdish people are free, no other people can truly be free. The freedom of the Kurdish people is intertwined with the freedom of Armenians, Assyrians, Chaldeans, and Arabs. That is why the peoples of Kurdistan and the Middle East must unite, establish a common front, and prioritize a shared struggle. Only in this way can we build a true people's power and reclaim our usurped rights. At this stage, perhaps the greatest responsibility falls on the Kurdish people, but this alone is not enough. Only through the united struggle of all peoples can we achieve our collective freedom."
Drancy People's Assembly co-chair Cuma Subaşı, KCDK-E Council co-spokesperson Murat Ceylan, and French Democratic Kurdish Council (CDK-F) co-chair Şahin Polat held a meeting in Drancy with Communist Party 93rd Regional Secretary Karin Niles, LFİ (France Unbowed Movement) Regional Delegate Rached Zehou, Civil Disobedience Movement Member Rachid, and Left Front Advisor K. Ünlü. The discussions centered on Abdullah Öcalan’s democratic modernity paradigm as a solution to the crises and chaos of the capitalist modernity system.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Kurdish women's struggle has become a model for women worldwide, and that the Rojava Revolution is not just a Kurdish revolution but a revolution for all of humanity. It was stressed that securing Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom should be a shared goal of all the world’s peoples. Furthermore, participants underscored that France and the international community must take a stronger, more organized stance against the policies of isolation and genocide imposed on Öcalan.
Following these meetings, the Long March activists visited local shopkeepers in Villiers Le Bel, distributing leaflets explaining the objectives and demands of the 26-day Long March within the framework of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Solution to the Kurdish Question" campaign.
In the evening, activists held a public gathering at the Villiers Le Bel Democratic Kurdish Community Center and called for participation in the large march and rally to be held in Strasbourg on 15 February.
