KON-MED on the attack in Hanau: We are sad and angry

According to KON-MED, several Kurds are among the victims of the right-wing terrorist attack in Hanau. Their relatives are currently assembling at the Kurdish cultural centre in Hanau.

The Kurdish umbrella organisation KON-MED (Confederation of the Kurdistan Communities in Germany) calls for participation in the protest actions announced for Thursday evening in various cities after the right-wing terrorist attack in Hanau. A demonstration will take place in Hanau at 18.00.

In a press release KON-MED said the following:

“We are sad and we are angry. We are sad because our thoughts are with the relatives of the victims of the right-wing terrorist attack in Hanau last night. Among the dead are also several victims of Kurdish origin. Their relatives are currently gathering at the Kurdish Cultural Centre in Hanau, where many people are at their side and sharing their pain at this difficult time.

We are angry because the political leaders in this country are not resolutely opposing right-wing networks and right-wing terrorism in this country: the NSU (National Socialist Underground Nazi group), the attack in Halle, the murder of Walter Lübcke and now the terrorist attack in Hanau are the result of a state policy that is blind in its right eye. The political rhetoric of the AfD and its trivialisation by the media and the political landscape prepare the breeding ground for right-wing terror in Germany.

In this difficult hour, we would like to express our deepest condolences to all relatives of the victims. Our thoughts and sympathy are with them.”
