KON-MED joins campaign for those affected by floods in Germany

The Kurdish umbrella organization KON-MED called for solidarity with those affected by the floods in Germany. “Especially in difficult times, it is important to get our strength together and use it for the common good.”

“The floods in Germany have hit many people hard,” said the Confederation of Kurdistan Communities (KON-MED) in a statement and added: “Many people, including many of our members, have been dealing with the flooding in many ways over the holidays up until today. The many helpers, including those from the fire department and the THW, are also working tirelessly.”

KON-MED said: “We would like to express our solidarity with all those affected by the flood and are here to lend a hand and support in the affected places and regions. In this context, we, our associations and our members will approach the responsible authorities/regions ourselves, but we are also available to answer inquiries.”

KON-MED called on those affected to “speak to us so that we can implement such a solidarity campaign and be able to plan and organize. Let us live together and experience solidarity. Especially in difficult times, it is important to get our strength together and use it for the common good.”

KON-MED is the largest Kurdish umbrella organization of the estimated one million Kurds living in Germany. Its aim is to support not only the Kurdish associations but also the self-organization of the Kurds in the democratic, political, religious, economic and cultural areas.

“We see our approach, our solidarity, our philosophy as a guarantee for the protection, defense, preservation and expansion of democracy and social coexistence,” said the Confederation of Kurdistan Communities.
