The KCK issued a statement to salute the end of Ramadan.
The KCK’s Committee for Peoples and Beliefs on the approaching of Eid al-Fitr, the end of the Ramadan fasting.
The statement said: "The Muslim world is preparing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr as we approach the end of this year’s Ramadan fast. First and foremost, we congratulate the Islamic World on Eid al-Fitr and wish that it will be marked by justice, equality, and freedom for the Middle Eastern societies and the Muslim World, by the brotherhood among peoples and faiths, and by the development of the construction of democratic life for all humanity. We wish peace, freedom, unity, solidarity, equality, fraternity, brotherhood, abundance, and prosperity to all Muslim peoples who complete their fasts with good intentions, good prayers, and good deeds.
As Middle Eastern societies, we are welcoming this year’s Eid al-Fitr amidst intense wars, conflicts, and social struggles. In different geographies where Muslim peoples live, societies are facing economic crises, colonialist and oppressive policies, and political problems. Muslim communities in Gaza, Syria, Rojava, southern Kurdistan, and many other parts of the Middle East have spent the month of Ramadan resisting genocidal attacks, persecution, oppression, hunger, and poverty."
The statement added: "In Gaza, the attacks continued even though it was Ramadan. In Syria, Alawite people were massacred during Ramadan. In Rojava, the month of Ramadan was spent with the glorious resistance of the people against the attacks carried out from the air and land at the Tishrin Dam. The areas of the guerrillas were bombarded hundreds of times by tanks, artillery, and from the air with UCAVs and warplanes every day, despite the declaration of the unilateral ceasefire. We want to remind that the resistance of Muslims in the face of attacks is as sacred as their worship, even though they are observing the holy Ramadan fast. We celebrate the Eid al-Fitr of all Muslim people who are in resistance everywhere. We call on every believer of the Islamic faith, which is a religion of justice, peace, goodness, and truth, to contribute to the democratic struggle led by the Kurdish people.
To the honorable patriotic people Kurdistan:
We are welcoming this year’s Eid al-Fitr in a historical period where we are witnessing a new process that is developing in the Middle East centered on Kurdistan. Muslim Kurds spent most of their fasting days in democratic actions and struggles. Starting with March 8 and reaching its peak with Newroz, the great struggle of the Kurdish people was loaded with historical meanings and messages. The opportunities to realize the revolution of freedom, to implement the system of the democratic nation, and the construction of a moral and political society along the lines of democratic civilization are growing and developing more than ever. This historical process imposes duties and responsibilities on all of us, as well as on you, our esteemed Seydas, religious scholars, and faith leaders. It requires us to carry out the struggle of the period with the greatest and holiest goal of establishing the peoples’ democratic and free life and realizing the renaissance and thereby rebirth of the Middle East. Everyone has to welcome this process with the awareness that a Middle East where Kurdish denialism will be overcome, where the brotherhood of peoples will develop and strengthen, where the lands of the Middle East will get off the grounds of war and conflict, and where democracy, justice, and freedom will prevail, is the greatest longing of the peoples. An equivalent struggle for this is needed."
The statement continued: "Once again, as a movement, we celebrate the Eid al-Fitr of all our patriotic people and their international friends and wish their prayers to be accepted. Particularly on Eid al-Fitr, we must embrace and commemorate our martyrs strongly. One should visit the martyrs’ cemeteries collectively and show solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the families of the prisoners. As a movement, we bow to the memories of our martyrs with respect and gratitude and reiterate our promise that we will raise the struggle for the victory of the just cause of the Kurdish people through the construction of a democratic society.
We call on all Kurdish people who are forced to live in the four parts of Kurdistan and all over the world to make this Eid al-Fitr an occasion to strengthen their unity and to develop and expand solidarity. We call on Middle Eastern societies, democratic Muslim circles, to organize along the system of the democratic nation and to develop the Democratic Middle East Peoples’ Union. We reiterate our wishes that this Eid al-Fitr will bring justice, peace, brotherhood, and freedom to the peoples, and we congratulate the Eid al-Fitr of all Muslim peoples."
