KCDK-E calls on people to join today's actions for Shengal across Europe

KCDK-E called on people to join the actions planned for today against agreement between Baghdad and Hewlêr on Shengal.

The KCDK-E co-presidency Council said in a written statement that "the will of our Yazidi people was disregarded with the agreement reached between Baghdad and Erbil on 9 October 2020. Indeed, this agreement opened the door to genocide. It was a dangerous step to take. With this agreement, slavery is imposed on Yazidi Kurds and their will is ignored.”

The KCDK-E added: “The target of the agreement is the self-defense and self-government established by the people in Shengal.”

Reminding of the genocide carried out by ISIS on 3 August 2014, and the role in it played by the KDP and Iraqi central government forces that did not defend the Yazidi, the statement added: “Everyone knows that the 9 October agreement was signed at the request and instruction of the Turkish state. Considering the Turkish state's ambitions and attacks on all of Kurdistan and the region, it is an indisputable fact that great dangers await the people of Shengal with this understanding.”

The statement said that “defending Shengal is a national duty” and demanded “that necessary steps be taken immediately before the dangers and threats on the Shengal people grow and before new massacres occur."

Finally, the KCDK-E called on “everyone to join the actions to be held in front of the Iraqi embassies in all European countries today, 29 March. The actions are promoted by the leadership of the Yazidi institutions in Europe. The KCDK-E will mobilize for the action that will take place in Geneva on Wednesday, 31 March, in front of the UN.”
