Court sentences lawyer Mehmet Emin Aktar to 6 years in prison

Mehmet Emin Aktar, the former President of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for allegedly "being a member of a terrorist organization".

The hearing of the case opened against Mehmet Emin Aktar, the former President of the Diyarbakır Bar Association for his participation in activities by the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) in 2018, was held today.

Aktar was accused of "being a member of an illegal organization" and "making propaganda for an illegal organization". The hearing was held at Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court and the court sentenced Aktar to 6 years and 3 months in prison.

After the statement by Aktar’s defense lawyer, the court sentenced him to 6 years and 3 months in prison on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and acquitted him of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization".
