Iraqi army shoots down a Turkish drone in Kirkuk

An unmanned aerial vehicle of the invading Turkish state was shot down in Kirkuk on Thursday.

The Iraqi army announced that it shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) belonging to the Turkish state.

It was stated that the drone was shot down in the skies over Kirkuk.


The Iraqi Air Force Command and security officials in Kirkuk issued a joint statement on the targeting of the Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle.

According to the statement made by Abdulselam Ferhan, Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, the UAV was targeted by 5 missiles near the Chîmen checkpoint, and that the UAV crashed after one missile reached the target.

Abdulselam Ferhan stated that the Turkish UAV crashed in the Tisîn neighbourhood of Kirkuk, and noted that the security forces deployed to the scene started an investigation.
