Several institutions in Europe that Kurds and other peoples from Turkey have organized in have issued a written statement and called for boycotts against tourism in Turkey.

In the joint statement, institutions pointed out the AKP/Palace’s attacks on the Kurdish people and democratic groups and the massacres that intensified after the elections were cited as examples. The statement says; “The Turkish state is waging a total war against the Kurdish people,” and mentions the genocidal attacks in Kurdistan and that hundreds of thousands of people have been forcibly displaced as a result. The declaration that also mentions the ongoing political genocidal operations and the cooperation with ISIS as follows:

'NOBODY IS SAFE'

“Nobody from any opposition grounds is safe in Turkey, particularly in Kurdistan. Peoples living in Turkey and Kurdistan are oppressed by Erdoğan’s/AKP’s fascist administration.

Nobody has security of life in Turkey. Even only seeing, hearing, talking about the crimes of the state can bring about your detention, arrest, torture and deportation. ISIS, protected and supported by the state, can target you with suicide bombings too, just as in the Suruç, Ankara, İstanbul, Paris and Brussels massacres.

Let us boycott tourism in Turkey to say no to all atrocious policies of AKP/Erdoğan’s fascist dictatorship, to support the struggle for democracy, peace and freedom. Any support to Turkey’s economy by taking vacations there comes back to us as bullets, bombs and prisons. Let us not be a party to the crimes of fascism. Let us boycott tourism in Turkey!

'LET US NOT SUPPORT AKP REGIME, JOIN THE BOYCOTT'

Vacationing in a country where fascism is in power, human rights abuses are increasing and people don’t even have the right to life means supporting and empowering that regime. This is why, as immigrant institutions working in Europe, we call on the peoples of Europe and immigrant workers in Europe to not take vacations and join the tourism boycott in Turkey.”
