Hunger strike in Athens on day 4

The hunger strike launched in Athens as part of worldwide actions demanding an end to the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, is on its fourth day.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) MP for Hakkari, Leyla Güven, has been on hunger strike for a month to demand an end to the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan by the Turkish state.

Hunger strike actions in solidarity with Güven are spreading all around the world, from Kurdistan to Australia, with the motto “Leyla Güven’s demand is our demand”.

The hunger strike in Athens, capital city of Greece, continues on its fourth day. Participants of the action stressed that their protest will continue with determination, and called on everyone, women and youth in the first place, to take part in the actions for Öcalan’s freedom.

The activists saluted all those taking part in hunger strikes in prisons in the person of DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven.

The hunger strike in Athens will continue until December 21.
