Hunger strike by political prisoners demanding freedom for Öcalan enters its 84th day

The hunger strike carried out by political prisoners demanding the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 84th day.

The hunger strike launched by political prisoners demanding the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is kept in isolation in Imralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison, and the solution to the Kurdish question has entered its 84th day.

Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, are held in Imrali and have not been allowed to meet with their families and lawyers for 35 months. In order to end the isolation and ensure the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question" campaign was launched on 10 October 2023, with simultaneous statements made in 74 cities around the world.

As part of the campaign, which is in its fourth month, political prisoners in jails in Turkey and North Kurdistan went on hunger strike on 27 November.
