Hunger strike against the isolation of Öcalan in Hewler

A hunger strike was launched at the HDP office in Hewler, southern Kurdistan, to raise awareness of hunger strike of HDP MP Leyla Güven and to protest Abdullah Öcalan's isolation.

A hunger strike has been started at HDP's Hewlêr (Erbil) office to support HDP deputy Leyla Güven's indefinite hunger strike in Amed Prison (Diyarbakır) and to support her demand for an end to the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

In addition to HDP members living in Southern Kurdistan, numerous other people are taking part in the hunger strike.

Müzzeyen Güneş, representative of the HDP in Southern Kurdistan, said that they will continue their action until a message from Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali prison island reaches the public.

"We cannot tolerate that the law and human rights principles are not respected in the case of Öcalan. Our activities will continue as long as the attacks of the Turkish state against the Kurdish people and our members continue," Güneş said.
