HDP's Uca asks the Parliament about MIT's involvement in Shengal attack

HDP’s Feleknas Uca took the involvement of Turkish intelligence MIT in Shengal attacks to the Parliament agenda.

HDP Amed MP Feleknas Uca submitted a parliamentary question on 21 MIT members participating in the KDP-AKP attack on Shengal’s Khanesor town.

The parliamentary question Uca submitted for the Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu to answer is as follows:

“According to reports in the media, there are allegations that 21 members of the National Intelligence Agency (MIT) participated in the attack launched on the Êzidî people in Shengal’s Khanesor town. There are also allegations that the 450-people force called Zumar that attacked Khanesor were trained by the Turkish Armed Forces. Another allegation is that the armed group called Zumar was stationed in Ayn sl-Firas village of Mosul by Turkey and were trained by the Turkish army and MIT. According to these reports, the Zumar forces consist of people who fled Rojava to join some FSA groups, anti-Êzidî radical Sunnis and Turkish intelligence agents.

Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu visiting the Zumar forces two years ago and inspecting their training on site is among the allegations. On the other hand, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had made the following comments in October 2016: ‘We will continue this fight in Shengal, it is on its way to becoming a new Qandil and we can’t allow that.’ It is also significant that the attack took place right after Kurdistan Regional Government President Masoud Barzani visited Turkey.

The Khanesor area where the attack took place is a piece of land that was invaded by ISIS on August 2, 2014 and taken back by the YBŞ in December 2014. Since Khanesor was liberated from ISIS, it has been a safe area under YBŞ protection. Êzidîs suffered the ISIS attack on August 3, 2014 recognized by the UN as a genocide and they sought refuge in the mountains of Shengal afterwards. Them being subjected to attacks again is a new crime against humanity against this people. Êzidîs as an ancient community in our country are greatly concerned and worried that Turkey is taking part in these attacks.”
