The HDP co-chair was in Izmir to open the party’s election office.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair, Pervin Buldan, was in Izmir on Sunday for the opening of the party’s election office in Bayraklı.

Buldan said: “We are not here to make a meeting today but to open our party’s election office. But the enthusiasm and joy of the crowd have actually turned this occasion into a meeting”.

Buldan added: “Izmir is a city of peace. Izmir is a city of freedom. The people living in Izmir believe in peace, democracy, brotherhood and freedom”. The enthusiasm and joy shown by the people, said Buldan “are also strongly connected with the struggle for freedom. HDP candidates are an evidence of this”.

A message from Presidential candidate Demirtaş

HDP co-chair told the people in Izmir she had come from Edirne. “I bring you a message and greetings from our Presidential candidate, Selahattin Demirtaş. They did not allow me to meet with him in prison”.

Buldan added: “They think they are holding Demirtaş inside those four walls, but today there are thousands of Selahattin Demirtaş outside, his voice, his smiling face, his enthusiasm, his morale are here”.

According to Buldan “they are afraid of the courage of Demirtaş, they are afraid of him and of the people meeting him in the squares. We have promised both to our presidential candidate, Demirtaş and to our former co-chair, Figen Yüksekdağ that the ship will reach the port. This people will win. HDP will win, Demirtaş will win”.

Buldan ended her passionate speech by saying: “We promise once again to all our comrades who are held hostages in prison. We promised this to Imralı Prison as well. We promised the families of our children who lost their lives in Suruç. We promised the families of the people who lost their lives in the Roboski Massacre and in the Ankara Massacre. We said to them that their struggle is our struggle”.
