HDP members detained, election vehicle seized in İzmir

In Buca district of İzmir province, HDP members were taken into custody and the election vehicle they used was seized by the police.

Police forces went to the election office of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Çamlıkule neighborhood of İzmir’s Buca district on Monday. Police officers then detained HDP member Haydar Yılmaz and district branch co-chair Birol Duruk without disclosing any reason. The two HDP members are guessed to have been detained as a follow-up of Sunday’s mass detention by the police who targeted the party members giving an iftar (fast-breaking) dinner in the district.

Police forces furthermore seized the election announcement vehicle parked in front of the election office, as well as the personal car of HDP member Haydar Yılmaz.

The detained HDP members and the cars were taken to the anti-terror branch of district security directorate.
