HDP Bitlis MP Mizgin Irgat taken into custody

HDP Bitlis MP Mizgin Irgat has been taken into custody due to an arrest warrant in the scope of a case opened against her in İzmir province, and taken to Bitlis Courthouse to give her testimony.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Bitlis MP Mizgin Irgat is prosecuted due to a statement she made in a protest demonstration against İzmir Governor's Office's ban on a rally for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in 2015.

Irgat is facing an arrest warrant due to non-attendance in the hearing held at İzmir 40th Penal Court of First Instance, and up to 2 years prison sentence is sought for her for “praising a crime and criminal”.

The HDP deputy has been taken into custody in Tatvan district of Bitlis due to the arrest warrant issued for her, and taken to Bitlis Courthouse to give her testimony.
