HDP and DTK members prevented from going to Öcalan’s village

A group of HDP and DTK members that were on their way to Kurdish leader Öcalan’s village Amara on his birthday have been blocked in Halfeti.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Berdan Öztürk, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Amed MP Sibel Yiğitalp, Urfa MP Dilek Öcalan, Batman MP Saadet Becerikli, Şırnak MP Aycan İrmez, Bitlis MP Mizgin Irgat, Adıyaman MP Behçet Yıldırım and HDP Urfa co-chair Ayşe Sürücü and other representatives were blocked by Turkish security forces as they were on their way to Urfa’s Amara village, where Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan was born, to mark his birthday today.

The politicians were stopped at a checkpoint while leaving Halfeti district of Urfa and are not allowed to head towards Amara.
