Gürbüz: It's time to talk about Abdullah Öcalan's freedom

DBP Amed Provincial co-chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz said: "Now is the time to talk about Mr. Abdullah Öcalan's freedom. Everyone should do their part."

There has been no news from Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is kept in absolute isolation in Imrali F Type High Security Closed Prison, since 25 March 2021.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Amed Provincial co-chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz said: "The AKP-MHP government, fed by chaos and deepened crisis, is trying to ignore the people, marginalize them, and overcome some processes by ignoring justified demands. We can all see that the ongoing absolute isolation of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan for more than 40 months has a connection with everything from the economic crisis in the country to the independence of the judiciary. Today, not only Mr. Abdullah Öcalan but also all the people of Turkey are under isolation. We see that the government plays hypocritical roles when it comes to the legitimate demands of the Kurdish people."

Isolation has engulfed the whole country

Pointing out that there is a heavy isolation in Imrali, Gürbüz said: "The interlocutor needs to be addressed in order to establish a life together. Isolation needs to end and we need to talk about the physical freedom of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. Instead, we are still faced with unlawful practices. Unfortunately, the conditions of isolation continue to deepen. Imagine a Ministry of Justice saying that the Imrali prison is not under their control, if they do not know the conditions there, how can the Kurdish people know? Isolation is not accepted in the world, but unfortunately it has spread throughout the country."
