Group from Hannover takes over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg on 469th week

A group of activists from Hannover has taken over the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg which is about to celebrate its 10th year.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, launched by the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative” in Strasbourg, on 25 June 2012, in order to ensure the physical freedom of the Kurdish people's leader and to end the isolation imposed on him, has entered its 469th week.

This week a group of activists from Hannover took over the action that the Kurds living in Europe continue in groups every week. Xosnav Ata, Hacı Isa Midyat and Kadri Amed are part of the group that took over the vigil carried out in the common area where European institutions are located.

Xosnav Ata made a statement on behalf of the group and drew attention to the fact that the Turkish state's invasion attacks in Kurdistan and the massacre attempt against the Kurdish people continue in cooperation with NATO.

Expressing that the Kurdish people exposed that Europe is a partner in the crimes committed by the Turkish state against the Kurdish and Kurdistan peoples, with this 10-year action, Ata added: “The fact that no concrete steps have been taken about the isolation on Leader Öcalan since the International Conspiracy is also an element of this partnership. It is the most important indicator of it.”

Pointing out that the Turkish state has deepened the invasion attacks in South Kurdistan in partnership with the KDP, Ata pointed out that the Barzani family is collaborating with the enemies of Kurds and wants to eliminate the achievements that the Kurdish people have made paying a great price.

Underlining that the Barzani family's partnership with the Turkish Republic has been indisputably exposed with the latest developments, Ata said that the Kurdish people will not accept to live as slaves for another century and that they will increase their resistance.

"Leader Öcalan is the key to the solution of the Kurdish problem," Xosnav Ata said, adding: "The importance of Leader Öcalan has clearly emerged today. It is not a coincidence that the isolation on our leader and the war against the Kurdish people go hand in hand.”

Ata pointed out that the Freedom Vigil – which runs every day from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm seven days a week - is one of the actions that best reflects the determination of this struggle.
