French cities mobilised in solidarity with NE Syria

The Turkish invasion and genocide attacks in Northern and Eastern Syria were protested by Kurds in the areas of Avignon, Grenoble, Villier le Bel and Rouen in France.

The Kurds and their friends took to the streets in many cities of France to protest the Turkish state's invasion and genocide attacks against Northern and Eastern Syria.

Avignon

Kurds and their friends  came together in Avignon to condemn the attacks of the Turkish state.

DKTM, Avignon Citoyennne et populaire, Avivgnon insoumise, NPA 84, PCF 84, PCOF, Union Syndicale solidaires 84 were among the associations and groups organising the protest.

Activists marched from the city center of Avignon to the city hall.

Grenoble

In the city of Grenoble the Turkish state's attempt to occupy Northern and Eastern Syria was protested.

The march started from Felix Polount Square.  AIAK, ACIP-ASADO, Association Culturelle Mésopotamie de Lyon, CNT, UD CGT, CIIP, Ensemble 38, MRAP, FSU, Nuestra América Grenoble, LSR, le mouvement de la paix Isère, PCF Isère, PCOF, PG 38 read a joint statement.

Villeiers-Le-Bel

In Villeneuve Saint Georges, one of the northern suburbs of Paris Kurds and their friends protested the Turkish state's attacks on Rojava.

Speaking at the rally in front of the train station, Hennebelle Françoise, a member of the French Communist Party (PCF), said that the Kurds and the peoples in Syria are defending their freedom.

Murat Varlı, co-spokesperson of Villiers-le-Bel Democratic Kurdish Community Council, called for participation in the march organised today at République Square.

Sorbonne University

A demonstration was also held at the Sorbonne, one of the main universities in Paris. Young people came together in the de Nehêle campaign initiated by the YXK-JXK youth movement at Place de La Sorbonne.

Rouen

A protest was organised in Rouen to express solidarity with Northern and Eastern Syria. The march was attended by hundreds of people.
