‘Freedom for Öcalan Vigil’ in Hanover concluded with a rally

Kurds and their friends continue their demonstrations worldwide demanding freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Kurdish Community Center (NAV-DEM) in Hanover has launched a five-day vigil at Hauptbahnof on Monday. The action demanding physical freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and protesting his total isolation has been carried out in a tent set up in the square.

From 3 pm to 5 pm every day, the activists informed the passers-by about the isolation imposed on Öcalan and his importance for the achievement of peace in the region, as well as the Turkish massacres in Kurdistan territory.

The vigil has been concluded on Friday with a rally and sit-in organised by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Hanover.

During Friday’s rally which began with a minute’s silence, demonstrators joined the letter writing campaign to the United Nations Secretary General initiated by trade unions in South Africa. The campaign is addressed to UN Secretary General António Guterres to urge him to commit to the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

Speeches were made here by Bavê Enber in the name of PYD (Democratic Union Party), Altun Bischof in the name of YJK-E.
