A Lucerne group took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in its 675th week, expressing their unwavering trust in Abdullah Öcalan and his struggle.
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, launched on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg, continues uninterrupted.
The action, held outside the shared location of European institutions, demands an end to the isolation regime in Imralı Prison and calls for the physical freedom of Mr. Öcalan. Each week, Kurdish people and their allies living in Europe take turns sustaining the vigil.
In its 675th week, the vigil was taken over by Molla Şahin, Koçer Aydın, and Hasan İnce, who arrived from the city of Lucerne.
Molla Şahin emphasized that a new phase began following Mr. Öcalan’s call on February 27. He said: “We trust in Mr. Öcalan. We draw strength from him, and in return, we give him strength. Mr. Öcalan can foresee what will happen twenty years from now, even today. He brings light to all of humanity. He is like the sun.”
Şahin also stated that those who have long opposed the Freedom Movement and the followers of Mr. Öcalan are still attempting to sow confusion among the Kurdish people. He said: “But the people who have been shaped by Mr. Öcalan’s paradigm for 52 years and educated through his teachings continue to follow him as they always have, and they will continue to do so in the future. We stand with Mr. Öcalan until the end.”
