Activities under the "Time for Freedom" campaign continue across Germany.

Fifth day of the action week in Düsseldorf

A five-day sit-in for the freedom of PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned on Imrali for 22 years, began in Düsseldorf on Monday. Today's rally was held in front of the Düsseldorf state parliament and began at 12 noon with a minute of silence. The broad program included numerous speeches, conversations with passers-by, cultural dances, live musical performances and political analyses. Speeches were made on behalf of KON-MED, FED-MED, FEDA, TEKO-JIN, TEV-CAND and CIK. Hozan Kawa, Zahir Lowan, Memo Gül and Loqman Dilwar performed in the music program. The music was accompanied by traditional dances and the "Semah" dance, which is significant in Alevism.

As the day progressed, more and more people gathered in the square. A colorful tent posted quotes from Abdullah Öcalan, banners and flags attracted attention. At the same time, activists of the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) collected signatures for the currently running campaign "100 reasons to prosecute the dictator".

The sit-in was successfully ended on the fifth day despite multiple provocations by police and will lead into an NRW-wide demonstration on Saturday. The rally ended with a call for participation in tomorrow's demonstration, which will begin at 2 p.m. in front of the DGB building in Düsseldorf.
