Four Kurds from Kiel take over Vigil for the Freedom of Öcalan

The Vigil celebrated its 6th anniversary last week.

The Vigil for the Freedom of Kurdish People's Leader, Abdullah Öcalan switched this week to four Kurdish patriots from Kiel in Germany.

Yucel Akçiçek, Mahmut Cru, Sexmus Mustefa and Egit Sahin Afrin arrived to Strasbourg from  Germany on Sunday, to took over the Öcalan Freedom Vigil on its 315th week. The Vigil has been going on for 6 years in front of the European Council.

In a statement made upon their arrival in Strasbourg the four Kurds stressed the importance of the action that is now in its 7th year. They underlined that the pressure on Ocalan is a pressure on the whole Kurdistan.

The statement also added that the Kurdish people demand the freedom of Öcalan and this is also the task of this Vigil. 

The Vigil for the Freedom of Öcalan begun on  25 June 2012, as it was remembered last week with a press conference.

The co-presidents of the European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E) stayed at the Vigil for five days. Kongra-Gel co-chair, Remzi Kartal, also joined the action as well as Turkish and Syriac peoples' representatives, HDP İzmir former deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü,  Goran member Şerko Hemo Emin and PUK member Salar Mohammed from the South Kurdistan Parliament.

PYD members joined the Vigil during the week.
