Hatice Gevcan, former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) District co-chair, was arrested after her house was raided by gendarmerie in the Xelîla rural neighborhood of Dargeçit (Kerboran) in the district of Mardin (Mêrdîn) in the morning hours.

Hatice Gevcan, who was sentenced to 6 years 3 months in prison and whose sentence was approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals, was taken to Dargeçit Criminal Court of Peace, and was sent to prison after the verdict was read to her.
