Families of prisoners in Imrali once again refused visit permit

Families of Abdullah Öcalan and the other three prisoners held in Imrali where once again denied permit to visit them. 

The application filed by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan and his lawyer Mazlum Dinç to the Bursa Public Prosecutor's Office was once again rejected.

The application by the other prisoners in İmralı were also rejected. Polat Yıldırım’s brother Hamili, Ömer Hayri Konar’s brother Ali and Veysel Aktaş's sister Sabiha had presented a request to visit their brother and their lawyers were refused permit to visit them. 

 The prosecution refused the applications on the grounds of restrictions imposed on the prisoner as per “Law no. 5275 on the Execution of Criminal and Security Measures.” 

Mehmet Öcalan was able to hold a short meeting with Öcalan on 112 January 2019. It was the first meeting since 11 January 2016.
