Famous Brazilian caricaturist known for his caricatures criticizing the political atmosphere in Turkey and the government Carlos Latuff announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appealed for an access ban on his caricatures.

Latuff shared on Twitter President Erdoğan’s lawyer Ahmet Özel’s appeal to have his caricatures banned with the following message in Portugese, Turkish and English:

“Lawyers of #Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pressure @Twitter to delete content from 80 posts, including 11 of my 'toons, in a clear act of censorship! Is this the Turkish democracy? Why Erdogan wants to prevent the Turkish to see my 'toons? What's he afraid of?”
