The traditional Féte de L'Humanite Bretagne (Bretagne Festival of Humanity) organised by the French Communist Party (PCF) started in Lorient. Elected officials and politicians attending the festival spoke out against the usurpation of DEM Party municipalities in Turkey’s Kurdish region and the appointment of state officials in the place of the unlawfully ousted mayors elected by the people in the 31 March elections this year.
University student Theodore Caguant expressed his support for the struggle of the Kurdish people under the “dictator” rulers in Turkey. Caguant said that Erdoğan's anti-democratic practices were once again seen with the usurpation of Kurdish municipalities.
PCF Lorient Secretary Dr Boris Campos condemned the trustee politics and expressed solidarity with the Kurds against fascism. He emphasised that great prices were paid for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and the solution of the Kurdish question.
Sonio Orven of the Anti-Capitalist Party also called for solidarity with the Kurdish people and condemned the appointment of trustees to the municipalities won by the Kurds in Turkey, calling the unlawful action “unacceptable”.
PCF Morbihan Regional Secretary Gwenele le Houec stated that they embrace the struggle against trustees. Underlining that political prisoners are kept betind bars on unjust grounds, Houec said, “We salute those who resist against the regime. Victory will be for those who resist.”
Damien Girard, NFP-Ecologist MP for Morbihan 5th constituency, condemned the trustee practices. He expressed his support for the Kurdish people's right to self-government.
Rozann Métayer, Member of Parliament for Morbihan, saluted the Kurdish people who struggle for democracy. Metayer conveyed solidarity messages to the DEM Party and said "Struggle always wins."
PCF Lorient City Councillor Delphine Alexandre expressed her solidarity with the Kurdish people and said: "I strongly condemn the unjust trustee practices of the Erdoğan regime."
PCF Lanester City Councillor Philipe Jumeau said that the practices against elected officials are unacceptable. Expressing his solidarity and struggle, Jumeau demanded the physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and said: "The physical freedom of Mr Öcalan means the freedom of the Kurdish people, therefore the freedom of Mr Öcalan is of vital importance."
