A Dutch woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Netherlands on charge of ‘committing a against humanity’ for keeping a Yazidi woman as a slave. The Hague District Court recorded that Hasna A. travelled to Syria in 2015 to join ISIS. It was determined that Hasna A., a Dutch citizen who faced multiple charges, took her 4-year-old son with her in 2015.
It was reported that the woman who married an ISIS member was given a Yazidi woman named Z. as a slave. This is also the first case filed in the Netherlands regarding the attacks against Yazidis. The prosecution demanded a sentence of 8 years, but the court sentenced Hasna A. to 10 years.
The Yazidi woman Z., who attended the hearing as a victim, said that her son was also kidnapped by ISIS. Pointing to the defendant Hasna A., victim Z. said, “I begged her to let me look for my son, but I was not allowed to do so.”
Hasna A., now 33 years old, was repatriated to the Netherlands in 2022 along with 28 children and 12 women through the Autonomous Administration. Hasna A. has been detained since.
