Did the AKP obtain the addresses from German authorities?

Political asylum seekers who fled the Erdoğan regime and sought refuge in Germany have been sent letters signed by Erdoğan. Letters were also sent to refugee camps, which strengthens the possibility that the addresses were provided by German authorities.

Letters signed by Turkish President and AKP Leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had been sent to voters in Germany before the elections to be held in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan on June 24.

The letters emerged in Austria as well as Germany, but in Germany they were not only sent to voters who happened to stop by the Turkish consulates in Germany, or were registered, or visited the consulate to renew ID cards or passports.

The journal Der Spiegel and the television network SWR published a joint news story on the letters, which were sent to political asylum seekers who fled the Erdoğan regime as well. The two organizations visited the refugee camp that the letters signed by Erdoğan and sent from Ankara ended up in in Trier in Rheinland-Pfalz.

THE ONLY SUSPECT IS GERMAN STATE AUTHORITIES

A refugee who wishes to remain anonymous has pressed charges against German state authorities after receiving the letter. The letter was sent with the refugee camp as the address, which points to German state institutions, as the full addresses of refugees are unknown to anybody except for the institutions they apply for asylum with.

The refugee’s lawyer Ramazan Sevinç spoke to state television in Southern Germany SWR blamed the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). Sevinç said there is nobody else to blame: “This is an absolute scandal, it seems that the people who sought refuge in Germany to find a safe place are not safe at all.”

TRANSLATORS IN THE BAMF HAD TURNED OUT TO BE MIT AGENTS

The BAMF decides whether the applicants will receive refugee status or not. Asylum seekers give their first deposition in these offices and talk about how they escaped in detail. In a previous scandal, information on how the asylum seekers escaped, their names and the cities they were staying in had been published frequently on AKP media last year.

Upon the asylum seekers’ complaints, German police had launched an investigation on espionage activity in the office, but after the Merkel government made a deal with the Erdoğan regime German security units halted this. Asylum seekers who spoke out at the time had blamed the BAMF workers, Turkish translators and security forces for the leak.

ERDOĞAN: WE SENT THE IMAMS AND TEACHERS ON DUTY

Erdoğan had used racist phrases like “the Turkish diaspora” in letters sent to citizens of Turkey who are studying in Austrian schools. Erdoğan had admitted to the government sending the teachers and imams to Europe in the letter which stood out with the following:

“We improved public services for our citizens abroad. We turned our consulate generals into communication points that truly serve you. We sent thousands of teachers and religious officers so our children can learn their mother tongue, their religion and their culture. We issued grants for the education of our youth, and allowed them to study without charge in Turkish universities.

Voting will be between June 7 and 19 in ballots abroad. In these elections with historic importance for the future of our country, we will take the first step in a new beginning with your support. To our brothers in the country and abroad, we promise a Strong Parliament, Strong Government and Strong Turkey on top of our services in the last 16 years.”
