Demo in Berlin: All together against fascism

A demonstration against Turkish fascism was held in Berlin on Saturday, promoted by the "United Against Turkish Fascism" alliance. The central message was: "All together against fascism".

In the German capital Berlin, the "United Against Turkish Fascism" alliance organised a demonstration against the fascism of the Turkish state on Saturday. The participants, including members of the Armenian, Kurdish and Greek communities, gathered in the afternoon at Hermannplatz. From there, the crowd marched through the district of Neukölln. The final location of the demonstration was Oranienplatz in Kreuzberg.

Among the demonstrators were also many people of Turkish origin from the anti-nationalist or anti-fascist spectrum, as well as internationalist and left-wing activists who showed solidarity with the groups affected by Turkish fascism. The demonstration moved militantly and loudly through the districts, as participants displayed their flags, which formed a colorful sea of flags over the march. Creative banners and signs displayed some of the participants' demands and slogans, including "Boycott Turkey," "Shoulder to Shoulder Against Fascism," and "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (Women, Life, Freedom).

Speeches were made at a closing rally. A member of the Kurdish student association YXK addressed Turkey's "neo-Ottoman" foreign policy, which has currently reached a peak again, and called for a common struggle against all fascist ideas. The opportunity of common solidarity and resistance should not be missed, he said, in the face of Turkish state terror against populations, faith communities and cultures that do not conform to the ideal of the so-called Turkish-Islamist synthesis and its Turanist ideology, such as the Kurdish, Armenian, Greek, Alevi or Yezidi communities. Only all of us together can bring Turkish fascism to its knees, the activist said.
