Death toll in İzmir earthquake rises to 109

The number of people who lost their lives as a result of the earthquake in Izmir last Friday rose to 109.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced that the number of people who lost their lives as a result of the earthquake in İzmir rose to 109.

According to AFAD figures, 1036 people were injured by the earthquake, of whom 898 were discharged from hospital after getting treated, while the treatment of 138 continues.

AFAD stated that there were a total of 1528 aftershocks, 44 of which were of magnitude over 4, recorded after the earthquake of 6.9 magnitude on October 30.

Search and rescue efforts still continue in four buildings in the city struck by the earthquake.
