Call from Silvan: Do not remain silent on brutality

HDP Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran called upon the world public opinion to break the silence on the brutality of Turkish state forces in Silvan district of Amed.

HDP Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran called upon the world public opinion to break the silence on the brutality of state forces in Silvan district of Amed.

As the curfew and siege by 'security forces' continues in Silvan in its seventh day, today's attacks by special operation forces have left one civilian dead and two others wounded.

HDP Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran spoke to ANF about the situation in the district.

HDP deputy pointed out that police forces have today opened fire on a coffee house outside of the curfew area in three neighborhoods, as a result of which one civilian died and two others were wounded.

"How can the people be subject to such atrocity because of declaring self-rule? Will this fair demand of the people be responded by tanks? Will hundreds of people be massacred for voicing such a most democratic right? The President is speaking every day about a regime change and voices his desire for executive presidency system. Are we laying a siege around his Palace and killing people in rejection to this demand of his? The world public opinion must see the brutality of the AKP government. Kurds remain under a huge encirclement and suffering murders in Silvan. People are waiting for their death under intense bombardments and artillery fire. International organisations should see the developments and come to Silvan. If the silence on this case continues, we might suffer greater pains soon."

HDP Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran also criticised the press for turning a blind eye to the atrocity in Silvan and failing to report the people's fair demand for self-rule.

Başaran underlined that the Turkish state will never be able to break the resistance nor make the Silvan people take steps backward by mobilising tanks and artillery forces.
