Buldan: Kurds have always maintained their honourable struggle

Buldan said: “The imposition of the Nation-State was experienced in the hardest way in Kurdistan”.

A conference on the Middle East Crisis and Democratic Nation Solution, was held in Amed, promoted by politicians and non-governmental organizations.

The conference was hosted at the Demir Otel's Conference Hall in the borough of Sur.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chairs, Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli, joined the conference as well as Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Berdan Öztürk, Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) spokespersons Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Onur Hamzaoğlu, Mardin Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Ahmet Türk , Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists, Kurdish party representatives, members of the Peace Mothers’ Council and many intellectuals, writers, politicians and peace activists.

HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan delivered the opening speech and drew attention to the four-party (Russia, Germany, France and Turkey) summit that has taken place in Istanbul on Saturday.

"There was a determination to cancel the culture and memory of this geography. - said Buldan - There was a determination to destroy all values of humanity. Drawn borders were used also to solve social, cultural, denominational and political differences. Exploiting peoples and beliefs, Turkey has put itself in a serious position”.

Buldan added: “The imposition of the Nation-State was experienced in the hardest way in Kurdistan”.

The HDP co-chair continued: “If you really want to understand the Middle East, then you have to look at the approach of the governments towards Kurds. You must look at how destruction and a denial policy have been implemented on Kurds. There is a mentality based on crushing and repression. Turkey has rejection and denial policies, Turkey is no longer confined to its borders. It moved to Iraq, Syria and Rojava. As a matter of fact, Amed's fate is the fate of Mahabad, Kobanê, and Kirkuk. The policies of aggression and annihilation have been expanded. But the struggle carried out by Kurds in the Middle East is disrupting the plans. Kurds have maintained their place throughout history”.

Buldan underlined that the “resolution process” is related to regional peace and added: “We have to remember this: Abdullah Ocalan's perspective spoke of peace and solution process not only for Turkey and the people of Turkey, but for the entire Middle East. They stopped the process on 5 April 2015. They aggravated the isolation regime imposed on Ocalan”.

Buldan added: “The peace and negotiation process should start once again. Mr. Öcalan should be included in this process and isolation removed”.

The fate of the Kurds in the Middle East cannot be separated from the fate of Öcalan, said Buldan, who added: “The main purpose of the aggravated isolation was to prevent Öcalan’s thoughts from reaching out to the outside world. Kurds however will not allow this. Syrians, Alevis and all peoples will not allow this. There are two ways of getting out of the Middle East crisis: Either fear will prevail or the right to a democratic republic will prevail both in this country and the Middle East”.
