British train drivers' union ASLEF in solidarity with HDP

ASLEF sends solidarity to the HDP and all their democratically elected members who are currently facing persecution from the government.

ASLEF, British train drivers’ union, issued a statement in support of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) which HDP is currently being persecuted by Erdoğan’s regime with elected mayors being removed and replaced by Erdoğan’s appointments and a detention warrant issued against more than 700 people from the party.

Mick Whelan, ASLEF General Secretary said, ‘We have seen Erdoğan’s regime continue to carry out politically motivated attacks against the democratically elected representatives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.’

‘We have raised our concerns around the current treatment of the HDP with the Foreign Secretary and call on Erdoğan to listen to the call from the European Court of Human Rights to release Selahattin Demirtaş immediately.’

‘We send solidarity to the HDP and all their democratically elected members who are currently facing persecution from the government.”
