British FM urges restraint from Turkey in Northern Syria

British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson called on Turkey to show restraint against Kurds in Northern Syria.

Speaking at the British Parliament, Johnson said that Turkey’s invasion became one of the most worrying elements in the whole Syrian war.

Johnson also warned that Turkey’s operation can weaken the battle against ISIS and praised the contribution of Kurdish forces in the struggle against the terrorist group.

“As Foreign Secretary I’m all too aware of the suffering going on in Afrin and elsewhere. We do worry a great deal about what is happening and certainly I have made representations to my Turkish colleague” Johnson said.

He also said Prime Minister Theresa May “totally understands the appalling dilemma of what is happening now in Afrin”

“We are urging our Turkish allies to use every possible restraint in what they are doing because this is one of the most worrying developments in the whole Syrian war” Johnson added.

Johnson’s comments came few days after Anna Campbell, a British female internationalist fighter, was killed by the Turkish army in Afrin.
