A tent was put up on Thursday in Medborgarplatsen, one of the busiest squares in Stockholm, in the context of the worldwide campaign to boycott Turkey.
Flags of the PKK and KCK and posters and photos of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the civilians slaughtered by the Turkish state were exhibited in the tent while Kurdish youth explain to passers by why Turkey is guilty of war crimes against humanity and should be condemned.
Talking to ANF about their activities, Rojda Avas, from Ciwanên Azad organization, said that the Turkish state together with DAESH have massacred hundreds of people in Afrin and forced to leave over 150 thousand people, since the beginning of its military and occupation operation, last January.
Avas explained to passer by how Turkey has imprisoned hundreds of democratically and legally elected Kurdish representatives in North Kurdistan. “This is why - she said - we have organised a boycott campaign against holidaying in Turkey. People living in Sweden should think twice before choosing Turkey has their holidays destination. We try to explain why this choice will actually contribute to the ongoing human rights violation in Turkey”.
Referring to the elections scheduled for 24 June, Avas said: "HDP's presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş is behind bars. All voters should vote for HDP and Demirtaş to end the one-man regime and support the HDP peace efforts”.
Taha Ziyat Aziz, who walked and stopped at the gazebo, stated that the young people's activities are very positive: “Turkey cannot continue to occupy the territory of another country. Turkey has gone too far. People from all over the world should join the boycott campaign, beginning with tourism boycott”. Aziz recalled that the boycott campaign against apartheid South Africa was very effective in the past: “We should make this campaign against Turkey and Erdogan regime as effective as the south african one”, he said.
