Berlin solidarity action: A voice for the prisoners

The daily solidarity action for political prisoners in Turkey continues in German capital Berlin.

A demonstration against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and the inhumane prison conditions of political prisoners in Turkey has taken place for the ninth day at the Alexanderplatz Square in Berlin. Today's solidarity action was supported by DEST-DAN Women's Council, Yazidi Women's Council, Berlin Council of Free People from Kurdistan, Rojava Association Berlin, Kurdish-Islamic Community (CIK) and the Confederation of Workers from Turkey (ATIK).

The demo began with a minute of silence in memory of those who died in the revolutionary struggle. This was followed by speeches in different languages expressing solidarity with the fighting prisoners in Turkey. Finally, musician Hozan Aydin performed the Kurdish song "Mire Miran".

The solidarity action in Berlin was initiated by the Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E. Since January 11, daily rallies have been held on Alexanderplatz from Monday to Friday. The political prisoners in Turkey have been carrying out a hunger strike in changing groups since November 27. In doing so, they are defending themselves against their unbearable prison conditions and demanding the lifting of Abdullah Öcalan's isolation.
