At least 20 people detained in four cities

Not less than 20 people have been taken into custody in political genocide operations in Adana, Hatay, Sırnak and Malatya provinces.

The AKP regime that continues its invasion attacks against Afrin is also continuing its political genocide operations against the Kurdish people and opposition circles in the country.

ADANA

Police forces carried out house raids and detained 9 people early Wednesday morning. All computers, mobile phones and books in the targeted houses were confiscated by the police.

The 9 people, reportedly detained because of their social media posts, have been taken to Adana police department following a medical control.

HATAY

At least 5 people including HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) members have been detained as a result of house raids in Erzin and Dörtyol districts of southern Hatay province bordering Syria. The detainees were reportedly taken into custody because of social media posts and are held in district police departments.

MALATYA

During the house raids in Yeşilyurt and Akçadağ districts of Malatya, Human Rights Association (IHD) Malatya branch co-chair Mehmet Tuncel, former Akçadağ district chairperson for Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Bülent Karataş, HDP Malatya provincial administration Discipline Board Member Ali Dağdelen and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) delegate Birgül Dağdelen were taken into custody.

The detained human rights defenders and politicians are held in the police department.

ŞIRNAK

Turkish soldiers raided the HDP and DBP (Democratic Regions’ Party) offices in Şırnak’s Balveren town. Following the search in both offices, HDP Balveren town branch co-chair Şehmus Sidar was taken into custody. On the other hand, DBP Balveren town branch co-chair Sadun Sezer was also detained after he was summoned to the gendarmerie outpost early Wednesday morning.

HDP and DBP co-chairs are being held at the gendarmerie outpost.
