Kurds in Sweden staged a long march from Södertälje to Fittja district of Stockholm yesterday to condemn the February 15 international plot against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. The people joining the demo were targeted by an armed attack, which left a Kurdish man by the name of Gafur Mihemed heavily wounded. 

The man from East Kurdistan who was hospitalized after suffering a heavy injury in the attack remains in life-threatening condition, according to police and hospital officials.

According to reports, Mihemed and three other people were in a minibus when they were targeted by armed attack which they described as a fascist assault that intended to kill all the 4 people in the minibus. Aram Alipour who was driving the minibus at the time of the attack told the following details as to what happened; “We were chanting “Biji Serok Apo” (Long Live Öcalan) slogan after finishing the march from Södertälje to Fittja district. Several racist persons standing outside the Turkish Association started to revile at us and shouting “terrorists”, which resulted in a quarrel but no affray at all. They later swore at us and fled. After a while, we were about to leave the central parking area with our minibus when a car drove toward us. I noticed that their aim was to stop us, so I kept driving. Just then a gun was pointed at us from the car, shooting three bullets, two of which hit Gafur in the back seat.”

Alipour said Gafur Mihemed got wounded in the stomach and leg, and lost much blood until a helicopter ambulance came to the scene and took him to hospital.

"We have no doubt that the assault was conducted by fascist powers and it is a part of Turkish state's genocidal attacks against Kurdish people in Kurdistan", he underlined. Alipour said they were attacked because they were wearing vests with portraits of Öcalan and the minibus was covered with the Kurdish leader's portraits.
