The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) and the European Representation of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria, met with Kurdish political parties and organizations in Brussels to address the ongoing attacks by the Turkish state and its affiliated gangs in the region.
The meeting took place during a period when attacks by the Turkish state and its associated armed groups continued in the region. The meeting, held at the Autonomous Administration’s representation office, was attended by Ilham Ehmed, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Autonomous Administration.
In her speech, Ehmed emphasized the importance of Kurdish unity to protect their achievements and play an active role in the future, while drawing attention to the threat posed by Turkey. She pointed out that the Turkish state seeks to exterminate the Kurds and affirmed that they are open to dialogue, with all efforts directed toward building a Syria where all social groups can freely find their place.
Other parties' representatives also shared their evaluations, and after three hours of discussions, released an 8-point declaration.
The declaration highlighted that defending Rojava Kurdistan is the same as defending all of Kurdistan and called for support from all Kurdish forces.
The organizations stated that all areas outside the Autonomous Administration’s control are currently under the control of extremist Islamist forces and Turkish-backed gangs, emphasizing that "our area must be protected by its own system, no matter what."
The declaration condemned the Turkish state’s attacks, and announced that legal actions would be taken in international courts against the attacks, with plans to establish an international tribunal as well.
The declaration also underlined that the Kurds must be united and present themselves as one body in the process of drafting a new Syrian constitution.
Additionally, representatives of the organizations and institutions called on the International Coalition, the United Nations, relevant powers, and world public opinion to act to stop the Turkish state and its allies’ attacks, and to protect the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria, providing assistance to it.
The declaration called on all Kurdish people, Kurdish friends, and the international community to strengthen the aid campaign, and offer support to refugees and victims.
Drawing attention to the developing conflict in the Middle East and the risk of a Third World War, the declaration said: "The war in Palestine, which has been ongoing for more than a year, has now spread to Lebanon and Syria, and to a certain extent also to Yemen, Iran, and Iraq. This war will escalate and lead to a world war. Many powers are calling this situation the Third World War. All the occupiers of Kurdistan are parties to this war. In other words, war is coming to Kurdistan. In this situation, the unity of the Kurdish people, national unity is crucial. We call on all Kurdish people, powers, parties, organizations, and forces to come together at the National Conference to establish a strong unity."
