Activists in Strasbourg call for unity and support for guerrilla resistance

The vigil launched in Strasbourg, France, against the Turkish state's invasion attacks and isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan continues.
The second week of the vigil of Kurdish organizations against Turkish expansionism and international support for the Erdogan regime, launched in Strasbourg on Monday, continues.
The initiative is promoted by the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) and the European Democratic Kurdish Society Congress (KCDK-E). The vigil launched on May 12 takes place under the slogan "Everywhere against occupation and genocide - time for freedom" on the square in front of the Council of Europe, where a permanent rally for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan has been held since 2012.
The vigil, scheduled for four weeks, is held by changing groups, and was led by exiled politicians in the first week. On Monday this week, a 25-member group has arrived from Germany and Switzerland and took over the action.
A total of 78 Kurdish and Turkish organizations support the action, which opposes the attacks on the Kurdish liberation movement and the international community's failure to respond to Turkish expansionism. The central issue is also the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. A vigil for the freedom of the Kurdish leader has been held in front of the CPT and the Council of Europe for nine years.
"This kind of actions are extremely important for us, Kurds," said Şerafettin Elçi, who came from the German city of Mannheim and participated in the protest.
Pointing to the attacks of the invading Turkish state against Medya Defense Zones since April 24, Elçi stated that this aggression is not only against the PKK guerrillas, but against the whole Kurdish people.
“We, Kurds, need to come together. East, West, North and South (the four parts of Kurdistan) are no different. We must embrace the guerrilla resistance wherever we are, whether in Europe or America. It is a matter of life and death. Should we fail to do so, the occupying and genocidal state will destroy us. Therefore, the most urgent thing in all four parts of Kurdistan is the unity of the Kurds.”
An activist named Ercan, who came from the Zurich canton of Switzerland, called upon “all our comrades and patriots to come to here”.
"The enemy wants to destroy the existence of the Kurdish people. Sacrifice must be made and patriotism must be displayed today, as it may be too late tomorrow," he added.
"The Turkish state is carrying out genocidal attacks with the support of international forces," said Taylan, another activist coming from Switzerland.
Taylan stressed that the latest attacks aim at eliminating the PKK and detaching it from the people, adding, “These attacks started with the isolation of Leader Öcalan. The Kurdish people should act with this awareness and adopt a national stance against the fascist Turkish state as much as they can. Every Kurd who does not raise a voice bears responsibility for every young fighter who dies in the mountains.”
