Activists in Rome celebrate Abdullah Öcalan's birthday

The birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, was celebrated in Rome at the Ararat Association in Rome.

Hundreds of Kurds and Italians joined the celebration organized by the "Freedom for Öcalan" committee, Rete Kurdistan-Roma, the Kurdistan Information Office, and the Ararat Association.

The many municipalities that awarded honorary citizenship to Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan were also invited to the celebration where trees were planted. Among the invited municipalities, Reggio Calabria, Pinerolo, Rome I borough, the mayors of Rignano Flaminio and the spokesperson of the "Leadership Committee" Giovanni Russo Spena each sent a message.

Simonetta Crisci, from the "Freedom for Öcalan Committee" drew attention to the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and said that he should be free as soon as possible.

Famous cartoonist Zerocalcare, Rome VIII borough mayor Amedeo Ciaccheri as well as councilor Emiliano Monteverde of Rome I borough also addressed the crowd.

The celebration ended with the screening of a video on Öcalan.
