Activists in London protest the murder of Deniz Poyraz

Over a thousand people in London, led by Kurds, socialists, revolutionaries and Alevi institutions, protested the attack on the HDP building and the murder of Deniz Poyraz.

More than a thousand people gathered in Manor House, in London, to protest for the killing of Deniz Poyraz. The young woman was murdered by a fascist thug who attacked the HDP Izmir Provincial Organization's building. The action was promoted by the Democratic Forces Union.

The action started with a minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the revolution and democracy struggle in the person of Leyla Poyraz. Activists held a sit-in to protest the AKP-MHP fascism in Harringey, demanding that the British state take a stance against the Turkish state.

A rally then followed on Turnpike Lane. British Alevi Federation chair, Israfil Erbil, strongly condemned the massacre against the Kurds and the HDP and said: "You will not be able to destroy the HDP. We will defeat fascism and stand by the HDP. Deniz Poyraz's murderer is known. The instigators are all those who exclude the HDP and who tried to marginalize the party. We know these murderers from the massacres in Roboski, Gazi, Sivas and Gezi. The spirit of Deniz Poyraz will strike the final blow to this fascism and power. HDP is the hope of peace in this country. HDP is the hope of living together in unity and solidarity. This hope will defeat fascism.”

The statements made in Turkish and English on behalf of the European Women's Solidarity, said that the resistance against the attacks and massacres against the HDP would spread. British Kurdish People's Assembly co-chair, Ercan Akbal, underlined that the Turkish state system is a war system and added: “Erdoğan, Bahçeli and Soylu are responsible for these massacres. A policy of genocide is being carried out against the Kurdish people. Today, there is a heroic resistance in the Medya Defense Areas against the fascist Turkish army. We will unite around this resistance, enlarge the struggle and destroy this fascist system. We will hold those responsible for the massacre of Deniz Poyraz to account.”
