Activists in Heilbronn cycle against isolation of Öcalan and Turkish invasion of South Kurdistan

The Kurdish Society Center in Heilbronn held a bicycle demonstration through the north of Baden-Württemberg city to draw attention to the ongoing isolation of Abdullah Öcalan on the Turkish prison island of Imrali. The participants called for freedom for the Kurdish people’s leader as well as peace and self-determination for the Kurds.

Activists also condemned the ongoing occupation operation carried out by Turkey in South Kurdistan

The demonstration kicked off in front of the Kurdish association and cyclers headed towards the city center and back again. Cyclers stopped at Kiliansplatz to mark the anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism and the defeat of Nazi Germany. In a speech the victims of the Second World War were commemorated while activists shouted “Never again fascism, never again war”.

One activist said: "A fascist regime of our days is that of AKP / MHP in Turkey with its accomplices from the EU, NATO and arms supplier Germany."
