Activists in Europe protest seizure of HDP-run municipalities

The seizure of 5 HDP-run municipalities by the AKP-MHP alliance was protested in Hildesheim and Hamburg in Germany and in Den Haag (Netherlands).

The seizure of the HDP-run municipalities of Siirt, Iğdır, Baykan, Kurtalan and Altınova by the AKP / MHP was protested by actions in various European cities. 

Hildesheim

A protest was organised in front of Hildesheim train station. Activists chanted slogans condemning the appointment of state trustees and reminded that the HDP had won the elections and the people had voted freely and democratically for the current co-mayors.

Hamburg

A protest was also held in Hamburg. Kurds and German activists joined the action held in Mönckeberg. Speaking at the rally, NAV-DEM representative Yavuz Fersoğlu said that Kurds will resist these despotic policies in all areas of life and added that the will of the people was being violated with the appointment of state trustees.

Serhat Çetinkaya spoke on behalf of the KNK and said that the Turkish state mentality has become more dangerous than the coronavirus these days.

The action ended with a call on people to join the action to be held in front of the Turkish consulate next Tuesday.

Den Haag

Activists also protested the seizure of the HDP-run municipalities and detentions of the HDP co-mayors in Den Haag, the Netherlands.

The action was carried out in front of the Turkish consulate and was promoted by the Ronahi Women's Council.

Zurich

The seizure of the HDP-run municipalities was also protested in Zurich, Switzerland.

The action was organised by the Martyr Armanc Council.
