Activists in Berlin protest KDP attacks on guerrillas

A spontaneous protest was held in Berlin on Sunday night after news of the aggression on HPG guerrillas by the South Kurdish KDP forces. Three guerrillas were seriously injured in the attack on an HPG unit near Dihok.

On Sunday night, activists of the Kurdish youth movement TCŞ (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger) protested against the attack carried out KDP troops on the People's Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas. Activists held a spontaneous rally in Alexanderplatz in Berlin. "We consider the shedding of Kurds' blood by Kurds as treason," said a spokesman, condemning the attack.

Late on Sunday evening in the area around the village of Sêgirkê near the town of Amedi (Amadiya), about 70 kilometers to the northeast of Dihok, an HPG unit was attacked and injured by security forces of the South Kurdish ruling party Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

As journalist Fırat Botan reported to the Kurdish television station Medya Haber TV, the group of three was ambushed by the Zêrevanî-Peshmerga and was fired at. The Zêrevanî are a militarized police force set up by the KDP and commanded by the KDP-controlled Interior Ministry. The HPG have not yet commented on the incident.

The main theme of the rally was the collaboration between the KDP, dominated by the Barzani family, and the Turkish regime in Ankara. The attack on the HPG unit was the result of this bond: "We see a great danger in this cooperation, the Kurdish society could lose all of its achievements as a result."
