The Turkish state’s killing of Gulistan Tara and Hêro Bahadîn was protested in Athens.
Kurds and their friends gathered in Syntagma Square in front of the Athens Parliament to protest the killing of journalists Gulistan Tara and Hêro Bahadîn in the Seyîdsadiq district of Sulaymaniyah, as well as the killing of civilians by the Turkish state in Qamıshlo.
The protest was promoted by the Kurdistan Democratic Cultural Center. Activists from KDKM, RiseUpForRojava Initiative (Rise Up for Rojava) and the Women’s Committee made statements at the demonstration.
Ismet Akurt, who spoke on behalf of the Cultural Center, said: "The enemy is doing everything they can to use these conditions of crisis and chaos to commit genocide against the Kurdish people and liquidate the Freedom Movement. He is conducting diplomatic activities for these genocidal attacks.
The Kurds also have calculations in this chaotic process. Just as South Kurdistan and Rojava gained status after the chaotic processes, we can do the same for parts of North Kurdistan and Rojhilat. We can break up the genocidal Turkish state and the fascist Erdoğan dictatorship. The way to do this is through unity. We need to have a tough line against the invaders, traitors, and the betrayal of the Barzani family."
Akurt concluded his speech by drawing attention to the fact that the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan will be discussed at the Human Rights Court and called for 20 days of uninterrupted action until the court.
