Activists from Munich take over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg in its 640th week

A group patriots from Munich took over the 12-year-long vigil in Strasbourg demanding the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in its 640th week.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which was launched in Strasbourg on 25 June 2012, with the aim of achieving the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and ending the Imrali torture system, continues with determination.

The action, which is carried out every week by groups of Kurds living in Europe and their friends, has entered its 640th week. A group of Kurdish patriots from Munich took over the vigil this week, including Abdurrahim Demir, Sinan Ergen, Nurettin İnci and Hesen Ergen.

Stating that they took over the vigil on behalf of the Munich Kurdish People's Assembly, Abdurrahim Demir said, “We want the youth to embrace Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). To embrace Rêber Apo is to embrace the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom.”

Sinan Ergen saluted Abdullah Öcalan, all Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas and the Kurdish people and said: “We are here today for the vigil for the freedom of Leader Apo that has been going on for 12 years. This vigil will continue until our leader is freed.”

Addressing the Kurdish youth and the people, Sinan Ergen said: “Wherever you live, embrace your leader. Do not give up your work until the leader is freed.”
